Pause+Pray

We’re frequently in a rush--on our way back from somewhere only to be racing off to another destination. Psalm 46 offers us these beautiful words as a salve: “Be still, and know that I am God!”

Because of my race, my innate gifts, my appearance, my security, I have experienced unearned happiness and have lived to see this day.

Our attempts to make up for deficiencies from our childhoods lead to our recurring sins. By the Holy Spirit’s gifts of insight and understanding, we can begin the process of being freed from our slavery to sin.

Of all the national holidays, Thanksgiving bears the most resemblance to the Last Supper. A meal is central to the event, everyone knows each other, and there is darkness amid the joy of gathering.

Each orchestra member's face amazes me. They do their small parts with intensity to help create the full, altogether glorious music of the orchestra.

We have been gifted with the ability to breathe God’s breath. It’s God’s breath in our lungs. In and out, nourishing our bodies. In and out, touching every fiber of our beings.
