In the last part of Dante’s Divine Comedy, as he travels through heaven, Dante comes to realize that it isn’t through any effort on his part. Something else moves him through his journey. And that is love.

All of creation finds a home in God’s love, care, and providence. And all turn to God for their sustenance, dependent on God’s grace and love. This is a vision of the kingdom of God, a vision we can find comfort in, which promises that we all belong.

Do you sometimes feel trapped by your own habits and customs, ways of doing things? Even our prayer and worship can become so repetitive and familiar that it seems like we’re on autopilot.

When someone takes the time to listen to us, to hear our concerns, our stories, our dreams, we feel valued. We feel wanted, that we matter and belong. That feeling is something we all hunger for.
