Sometimes we’re so busy and distracted we don’t even notice the people God places in our paths. We miss out on the chance to be his hands and feet in the world.

The world says, “Put your best foot forward,” but sometimes I care so much about what the world thinks of me that the foot I put forward isn’t really mine—it belongs to someone I’m pretending to be.

Sometimes we leave Mass underwhelmed and unimpressed. We can blame the homily, the choir, or the noisy kids in the back row, but the truth is, those things are not what matters.

There will always be people with different opinions—in politics, Church, even in families. Jesus calls us to respect each other despite our differences.

Imagine Jesus saying, “Martha, Martha, you are worried about many things,” but replace Martha’s name with your own. How will you answer him?

As children, we were taught to “say our prayers.” But as adults, does our prayer life consist of only memorized words? Or is it truly a conversation with God?

When life takes a turn for the worse it can feel as if God has forgotten us, doesn’t see us, or worst of all, doesn’t love us. If something disrupts your plans today, reinforce your trust in God by silently repeating the phrase, “I trust in you, God,” until your sense of calm is restored.
