Later this summer we will watch the best athletes in the world compete in the summer Olympics in Paris. And while most of us are not as athletically gifted as those in the games, we still can experience the enjoyment that can be brought by engaging in some type of competition.
Regardless of our political leanings, we must all remember that we need each other to move forward. St. Francis and the Franciscan spirit can help along the way.
So many firsts and lasts flying at you can elicit a lot of emotions and reflection. It certainly has for me.
In her novel Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte provides a different perspective on that thinking. She writes: “Crying does not indicate that you are weak. Since birth, it has always been a sign that you are alive.”
Given the amount of stressful situations in the world today and probably in our own personal lives, it’s no wonder we’re all in need of a good, deep breath.
If there’s anything I’m 100 percent certain about, it is the fact that there are so many things I still need to learn more about.
