St. Francis

St. Francis is known for many things—his holy boldness to embody the Gospel, respect for all living creatures, ecumenical spirit, and passionate zeal.

We often look upon the resources here on earth as being here for our benefit and use. But what about when others are not able to access such basic needs as clean water?

As followers of St. Francis, we are called to navigate life's challenges with grace, humility, and compassion—drawing strength from our faith and our Franciscan values as we encounter difficult situations.

The well-known hymn, “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace,” is often associated with the life and ministry of St. Francis of Assisi.

Lady Jacoba (now Blessed Jacoba) was deeply struck by St. Francis of Assisi and consequently became a Third Order Franciscan. She kindly offered one special luxury to the humble man of Assisi.

Francis of Assisi’s first biographer, Thomas of Celano, said that the saint was “always fresh, always new, always beginning again.” Francis was always doing something new and surprising to serve God and the world.
