When we do not surrender, it is easy for our identities to become attached to our own perceived ideals of how we think our lives should unfold.

Where we place our focus determines our attitude. When we start down a familiar mental rut (“Why do I get stuck with all the work around here?”), we can redirect that channel, finding something to appreciate.

Who doesn’t feel like their wounds cannot heal? Emotional, spiritual, and physical injury can create a chasm between us and God. Have you ever been in that place?

Each of us, throughout our lives, will encounter challenging times where we need someone we can turn to for help and support.

On a medical mission to Haiti, we climbed a long, steep trail to a mountain town for a three-day clinic.
