Sharing the Word for May 18, 2023

Thursday of the Sixth Week of Easter

May 18, 2023
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Acts 18:1-8

Paul leaves Athens for Corinth where he follows his usual pattern of evangelization–first preaching in the synagogue. When the Jews reject him, going to preach to the Gentiles.

Paul didn’t work alone. Silas and Timothy were with him in Athens and soon joined him in Corinth. In Corinth Paul met Aquila and his wife Priscilla. They were tentmakers like Paul. Paul joined in their business. They joined in Paul’s evangelizing endeavors. A synagogue official Crispus, together with his family, associated himself with Paul. Later Apollos–a powerful preacher–became part of the group. All these people working for the kingdom!

Still today the members of the Church are served by dedicated apostles. We are grateful for preachers of the word, past and present.
