Sharing the Word for January 12, 2022

Wednesday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

January 12, 2022
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Mark 1:29-39

Still in the first day of his public ministry, Jesus heals Simon’s mother-in-law. That evening the whole town is at his door clamoring to be cured. After a short night’s rest, Jesus immerses himself in prayer until his disciples find him and tell him another crowd has gathered. Jesus doesn’t stay there but leads his followers to other villages where he intends to preach and drive out demons.

Jesus is busy. His mission is important and he doesn’t have time to waste. His message is urgent and he is insistent that it be proclaimed.

Jesus continues to be busy–busy about us. He never takes time off from the work of our salvation. This calls for attention from us and gratitude.
