Today consider the words from Psalm 116: 1–2: “I love the Lord, who listened to my voice in supplication, who turned an ear to me on the day I called.”
Pray
God,
Listening is one of the greatest acts of love.
You listen to us,
and we, in response, seek you in our hearts.
Today I will try to be more focused on those around me.
No matter who crosses my path—
family members, store clerks,
neighbors as I walk—
I will not just listen to them, but listen longer.

As you listen more closely to others, can you feel your own heart open in this act of service?
