Jesus and Abundance

Reflect

Today ponder the words of John 10:10: “I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd.”

Pray

God, help me to let in more—
not materials things,
but surrendering to more joy,
more laughter, more ease.
For those of us who’ve been hurt,
it can be hard to transcend our walls.
When we find ourselves bitter, and stuck,
help us trust where you, the shepherd, lead.
How we long for the life of abundance
you came here to give us.

Act

What small act that brings you joy can you say yes to today? Holding your pet longer than usual; calling a dear friend who lives far away; offering, or asking for, a hug?

  1. Lord Jesus Christ, our hearts is cold. Make it warm, compassionate, and forgiving towards all, even those who do us harm. May we only think and say what is pleasing to you and be of kind service to all we meet. Amen.

  2. I like the idea of highlighting a small joy today. It’s such a positive way to start the day. It’s snowed and I’m going to go outside and enjoy the peacefulness of the landscape.
