Sharing the Word for January 3, 2022 – Epiphany Octave – Year 2
The Lord is present in our midst. True, there is darkness all around us. But wherever we turn we have access to enlightenment from him.

The Lord is present in our midst. True, there is darkness all around us. But wherever we turn we have access to enlightenment from him.
We treasure up the thoughts of what God has done for us and given to us. And we pray that the Lord will make us effective messengers of his good news–as Mary was.
In the kingdom of God there is always happiness, always singing. In fact, one might say that the vocation of God’s people is to sing.
We have been gifted with the same gifts that God conferred on Anna. We have been called to share our knowledge of the Lord with everyone around us.
There is always reason to sing a new song because there are always new blessings for which to praise God. Each day, each moment, is a unique experience of our relationship with God.
What today’s psalm says about rescue applies to us, too. We are so vulnerable–so subject to attack from within and from without–that if God is not with us to defend us, we simply cannot survive.
All the just–all of us–are beloved of the Lord. We are all called to find gladness in our relationship with him. We are all called to be grateful for God’s care for us, for the glory that he shares with us.
