Reflect
In Mark 1:12–15 we read Jesus’ words after his 40 days in the desert: “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand.” Sometimes, though, it feels like the kingdom of God is nowhere to be found.
Pray
Dear Jesus,
I hear your words,
and I know your kingdom
includes the here and now,
but too often, it doesn’t feel that way.
We know you’ve conquered
sin and death,
but we long for the day
when all your words are fulfilled—
no sickness or death
and you wipe every tear from our eyes.
Help us see your presence
even through our tears, Lord.
Help us hear your words
over the noise of the world.
Help us bring your kingdom
to the poor and hurting of this world
so they will know hope in the next.
Act
Spend a few minutes contemplating the kingdom of God. What does it look like for you? Come up with one concrete way to make that vision more evident today.
