Prayer

If you look closely at Christ on the San Damiano Cross, as painted on this cross, you will see that it is neither a bloody body nor one twisted in anguish.

Our need to be both receivers and givers of mercy is the purpose of Christ’s presence among us.

Throughout this canticle, we have seen how Francis saw God’s goodness, radiance and beauty in all creatures.

Humility is the guardian and the ornament of all virtues. If the spiritual building does not rest upon it, it will fall to ruin, though it seems to be growing.

St. Francis of Assisi often prayed this little prayer which helped him put everything in his life into perspective: “Who are you, O Lord, and who am I?”
