Franciscan Saints

For decades, the saints have been my mentors in prayer, faith companions whom the centuries cannot separate, beloved friends.

The answer God promises to give to you or me will be unique to each of us.

Clare’s name means “light.” She is the bright, shining one who reflected God’s love into the world.

St. Francis could let go when the right time came and engage in new ways of thinking and structures of relationship.

Francis of Assisi may not have written the words of the Peace Prayer attributed to him, but he certainly lived them.

Thomas of Celano, an early friar and author of three hagiographies of Francis, wrote that the saint “burned with a love that came from his whole being for the sacrament of the Lord’s body.”
