Sharing the Word for June 26, 2021

Saturday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time

June 26, 2021
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Genesis 18:1-15

Abraham’s wife Sarah has not played much of a role in the history of Abraham’s relationship with God. In the present narrative however, her activity is more prominent.

She prepares an elegant meal for the strange visitors who appear at Abraham’s tent; she listens to their conversation, and expresses her scorn at the promise of progeny for Abraham that is once more enunciated. One of the strangers proves to be God himself. Sarah is laughing at God!

One of the lessons in the saga of Abraham is that God does what he wants to do in his own way, however improbable–even ridiculous–his intentions might seem in the doing. God has plans for each of us, too. How seriously do we take them?
