Sharing the Word

Jesus still has enemies in the world. His disciples are still under threat of various kinds. But God has not given up looking after his beloved sparrows.

Jesus accused his opponents of being fundamentally unfaithful to their calling. It’s no wonder they wanted to kill him. What they offered the people only served to make observance of the law distasteful.

We have to perform religious practices with attention of the heart. Otherwise these actions are mere formalities that can lead us to believe we are being religious.

Jesus says that our religious practices must come from the heart. He calls for both good intentions and good works because he is Lord of both heart and action.

God’s representatives still proclaim the word of the Lord today to all who will listen. How attentive to them am I?

What is important to all of us is not family background, but being in touch with the word of God. Human relationships are important. But more important is our relationship with God.
