We need to remember that our final happiness depends on our participation in the life of the glorious Christ. We have to be aware that God invites us to participate in Christ’s kingdom.
Clare’s way of living the Gospel was not Saint Francis’ way, yet she left a profound mark on the life of the Church through her own form of ministry.
Jesus is the greatest of teachers. He used the experiences of common people to demonstrate the eternal truth of God’s word.
Jesus bluntly stated what it meant to be a true disciple. It meant being willing to suffer for the truths of the gospel that Jesus was preaching. It wasn’t just a matter of self-denial. It could reach the point where one would really have to suffer for being a believer.
It is not often that you hear mention of Saint Clare without also hearing of Saint Francis. Francis was an inspiration for Clare; Clare was a constant support for Francis.

Saint John Vianney is best known as the Curé d’Ars, the little French town where he was pastor. John had great trouble with his studies and almost didn’t get ordained.
Like Peter we are all individually gifted, and also occasionally weak. We are all called to be sources of strength for Christ’s Church. The Church is built on each one of us differently, according to our capabilities.
Saint Clare was no stranger to suffering. Throughout her life she endured pain and illness and often was bedridden.
Forgiveness is an important part of spiritual health, but appropriate boundaries can be equally as important when the offense was significant.
