The Day the Church Caught Fire

Reflect

Pentecost: the day the Church caught fire—literally and figuratively. Tongues of flame, a rushing wind, and suddenly a band of bewildered disciples became bold proclaimers of the Gospel. It’s the divine spark that ignited a movement still burning today. Today let us pray the Church’s prayer to the Holy Spirit.

Pray

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created,
and you shall renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray.

O God, who have taught the hearts of the faithful
by the light of the Holy Spirit,
grant that in the same Spirit we may be truly wise
and ever rejoice in his consolation.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Act

Identify one way you can be a bearer of the Spirit’s fire today—be it through a word of encouragement, an act of kindness, or standing up for justice. Let Pentecost be more than a historical event; make it your personal revival.
