Reflect
In Light of Assisi: The Story of Saint Clare, Margaret Carney, OSF writes of when St. Francis went to San Damiano seeking aid for the marks of his stigmata. Clare “provided special slippers to protect his feet from the excruciating pain of his wounds”. We can imagine how Clare, within the limited walls of her convent, must have found the softest material she possibly could for the slippers, tucking them tenderly on him with extraordinary love.
Pray
St. Clare,
today we turn to you in gratitude
for showing us
that no matter where we are,
no matter our resources,
we have abundant love to give those
who are suffering
mentally, physically, emotionally.
The way you tended to Francis
with such devotion.
Such beauty.
Be with us in our journey.
Help us tend to our loved ones,
in whatever way they need,
to whisper love
as we offer them the most
gentle hands that we can.
Act
Today think of someone in your life who is struggling, and as you pray for them surround them in Christ’s light, the light that brightened Clare’s reverent touch.
