A lack of money kept Clement Mary Hofbauer (1751-1820) from entering the seminary, so he went to work in a monastery bakery. Then, two women he barely knew offered to send him to the University of Vienna. Clement Mary went on to spend nearly 40 years as a Redemptorist priest in Austria and Poland.
