Monk and author Thomas Merton wrote, “The fact that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you.”
Pray
God, even though
I try so hard
to do the right thing,
I know I’ve been off course.
I ask that you
put my steps right,
and no matter what,
help me be gentle
with myself,
knowing I am doing
the best I can.
Act
Take a few extra minutes today and do something kind for yourself, giving yourself the same compassion you would offer to a loved one.
