The subject of immigration is one that immediately elicits passionate responses from people.

Yesterday, we mourned Christ’s death. Tomorrow, we will celebrate his Resurrection. Today, we pause somewhere in between.

Hanging in our house is a large corkboard map of the United States. On the board are various pins placed on locations across the country, each one marking a place to which we have traveled.

We may ask ourselves why more people aren’t doing something. But looking at change in terms of what we think other people should be doing is likely only to frustrate us even more.

The very first Psalm sings of a tree planted by flowing waters, with leaves that never fade; it bears fruit in due season. This is an image of living in God’s love.
