God’s word is still being sown today. Its fruitfulness depends on where it is planted. Today’s parable invites us to ask ourselves what kind of soil we provide for God’s word.
Paul’s apostolic adventures were not effortless, but they were the will of Christ. Apostles of today carry out that same agenda. Christ’s basic evangelical enterprise is still going on.
David is invited to become king of all the tribes. He is known to be pleasing to God. In order to promote unity David chooses Jerusalem as his capital.
Did Jesus’ family want to protect him from himself? Or from the crowd? Or were they afraid of the consequences that Jesus’ activity might bring on themselves?
The apostles were called to become close to Jesus so as to be able to present him accurately to others. In today’s Church, bishops are seen as successors of the apostles.
Jesus wanted to be sure that those who came to him were seeking him for the right reason. He wanted to be known for what he really was, not for what others wanted him to be.
