Christ said, “[I was] naked, and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me” (Mt 25:36). We need to visit the sick.
Admitting that our bodies are facing physical change is not easy. Who wants to admit weakness?
I think about the challenges of living each day with a chronic disease. A big part of my coping is through prayer.
Our pain and suffering can lead us into a deep spirituality. We take our suffering and use it as a springboard to make a better world.
Sirach 38:1 offers some wise words: “Hold the physician in honor, for he is essential to you, and God it was who established his profession.”
