Prayer

Clare’s name means “light.” She is the bright, shining one who reflected God’s love into the world.

In intercessory prayer, I speak to God on behalf of another and their petition, be it a person, situation, or a community.

The answer God promises to give to you or me will be unique to each of us.

When we are at our best, we are most able to carry out the work God has given us with energy and joy.

Once we acknowledge the reality of our society, we must do what we can to live the ideal we seek to the best of our abilities. 

Thomas of Celano, an early friar and author of three hagiographies of Francis, wrote that the saint “burned with a love that came from his whole being for the sacrament of the Lord’s body.”
