Daily Reading from the USCCB: Daniel 9:4b-10
The liturgy extends its survey course in changing our hearts. For two more weeks the Church will continue to present us with the classic Scripture texts about sin and repentance. A few of the readings will begin to lead us into reflection on the passion and death of Jesus, but mostly we will continue to focus on changing our hearts.
Today Daniel prays in the name of the people. They have sinned. They have not obeyed the prophets. They are ashamed of what they have done. Yet the people know that God is compassionate and forgiving, ever mindful of the covenant he has made with his people.
We too, are sinful. We too, have rebelled against God. Yet God remains ready to forgive even us.
