Today we are inspired by the roots of Jesse and discover how that theme can translate into our Advent traditions.

The law of the Lord refreshes the soul and gives wisdom to those willing to accept it. It brings joy and enlightenment to the believer’s heart and mind.

Mystics, artists, and prophets exemplify this surrender into solidarity; letting the self be moved by suffering and inspired by imagining.

We can strive to hold onto the quiet withdrawal of the ideal Advent, but when that means refusing the hospitality of another’s invitation, we might need to reconsider our commitments.
