There is a danger in limiting the pilgrim mindset to grand moments of international travel. In reality, driving to Mass on Sunday, a trip to a local shrine, or visiting a monastery can all have great spiritual value if we remain aware of God’s presence.
Saint Catherine of Siena was a Third Order Dominican known for her contemplation and prayer—as well as her involvement in Church and civil affairs. During the time when there were two and three popes each claiming the papacy, Saint Catherine sided with Pope Urban VI. She was named a Doctor of the Church in 1970.

St. Gianna Beretta Molla refused to sacrifice the life of her unborn child to save her own. After the birth of a healthy baby, Gianna developed an infection and died at age 40. She exhibited a kind of selfless love that all mothers innately understand.
A Marist priest and the first martyr of the South Pacific, Saint Peter Chanel worked on the island of Futuna. Struggling and having little success in his evangelization efforts with the local people, Peter Chanel eventually was awakened on April 28 and clubbed to death in his home. Within two years of his death, the whole island had become Catholic.
Jesus comes to us from the Father and teaches us about the Father’s will to give us eternal life. If we reject the Son we do not receive life, but the wrath of the Father.
The saying goes “the devil is in the details,” but I think rather God is in the details. His beauty is all around us if we choose to participate in his game of hide-and-seek. Go outside: watch, listen. Where do you see and hear God?
In this week’s Gospel, Jesus appears to the disciples for the third time since his Resurrection. He shares a meal with them when they are suddenly blessed with an abundance of fish after having previously caught none.
A diocesan priest with a great devotion to Mary, Saint Louis Mary Grignion de Montfort attracted many people to the faith by his preaching. He lived a life of notable poverty and simplicity.
