The Ultimate Offering

Reflect

An Auschwitz prisoner had escaped, and the Nazi authorities decided that ten other men would be starved to death in exchange. When one of the ten selected cried out for his wife and children, Father Maximilian Kolbe volunteered to take his place. Maximilian was the only one still alive after a few weeks, so he was killed by lethal injection. The man whose life he saved lived to attend Maximilian’s canonization in 1982.
