Reflect
Can we trust that we are always being led? Recently, I was led to a beautiful book, from France in 1741, that was taught by Henri Nouwen at Yale: “The Sacrament of the Present Moment” by Jean-Pierre de Caussade. Within the book, I discovered these words: “He walks alike over the smallest blade of grass, the tallest cedars, grains of sand or rocky mountains. Wherever you go he has gone before. Only follow him and you will find him everywhere.” Today, think of times you have been led to God by inspiring words, passages, or books that have touched you.
Pray
Today may we, too,
perceive the present as a sacrament.
What a perfect, beautiful idea!
Each moment so hallowed
that we will find him everywhere.
Let’s start now,
with this holy moment…
and now this one.
Act
Is there a book on your bookshelf that once inspired you, but you put away? Today take it down and see what it has to offer you now.
