Reflect

Although we don’t read about Veronica in any of the Gospels, her story has been handed down through oral tradition and is told in the Sixth Station of the Cross as she wipes Jesus’ face. Did she know him? Or was she just a bystander who reached out to help a stranger?

Pray

Dear Jesus,
how many strangers do I pass
each day without noticing?
How often do I walk
past even the people
I love without seeing their needs?
Open my eyes
to the people around me
so I can notice their wounds,
their tears, their heavy crosses.
Help me offer the kindness they need.

Act

Pay attention to the people you interact with today, and look for opportunities to show them kindness. Anytime you wipe the face of your sick child or help a neighbor carry a burden, you are helping Jesus.
