St. Francis of Assisi praised God for all life: the birds in the sky and the lilies of the field. Even the dog at your feet is a messenger of the Almighty—there to remind you that you are loved and beloved. Do you see it?

God of all life,
the chorus of the birds
outside my window
sing your praises.
But their song, too,
is a reminder that you love us
enough to color our lives
with creatures great and small.
Thank you, God,
for bringing color and music
and love into our lives
through this menagerie of beauty.
