For Those Who Are Alone

lonely chair

Reflect

Sadly, in our culture of individualism, many people find themselves alone. The elderly and infirm are particularly vulnerable. Let us pray for them now.

Pray

Lord,
you are the Good Shepherd.
When one of your flock
is lost,

you seek them out
and bring them back
into your embrace.

Be with those
who are lonely
and have no one
to care for them.

Let them know your presence
and the care of people
of good will.
Amen.

Act

If you know someone who lives alone, consider giving that person a call today. Ask how they are doing and let them know you are offering this prayer for them today.

  1. I realize we are all social creatures, but how many of us are really alone since we will always have Jesus? Some people are isolated through no fault of their own, but what does that say about the rest of us? As long as people are able to like themselves, they should be alright. At least here in the U.S., people are in their own country amongst their fellow countrymen. Imagine being an American in a place you didn’t belong! That’s no fun. Count your blessings.
