Change often arrives unannounced, without asking our permission. We brace ourselves for loss before we look for possibility. Yet sometimes joy slips in through the side door, unexpected and sincere. God has a way of surprising us with hope where we least expect it. What if this new thing carries a gift meant just for you? What if joy is already present, waiting to be recognized?

God of surprise,
help me notice joy
when it shows up quietly.
Calm my instinct to resist
what is unfamiliar.
Open my heart
to hope that arrives
in new shapes and new rhythms.
Teach me to trust
that You are present
in beginnings, even uncertain ones.
Thank You for joy that finds me,
even when I’m not looking for it.
Help me receive it
with gratitude instead of fear.
