Changing What’s Mine to Change, and Letting Go of What’s Not

Reflect

How often do we spend time thinking about what is wrong with our lives and wishing things were different?  How much emotional and mental energy do we waste trying to change things that either aren’t changeable or aren’t even ours to change? I am reminded of the Serenity Prayer: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Pray

Dear God, help me learn to accept your will,
my situation, and the world.
Help me trust in your sovereignty and goodness.
Help me understand what is
and what is not mine to change or fix,
and to be confident that if you call me to do something,
you will give me all I need to accomplish it.

Act

Consider a situation you wish were different. Ask God if there is something he is calling you to do, and if so, do it. If not, trust that he will take care of it in his own time and way.
