The Advent name for God is Emmanuel. We sing it over and over in the familiar hymn, “O come, O come, Emmanuel.” The name means “God is with us” and comes to us from the prophet Isaiah.

Often we hear the phrase “Christmas is for children” and while it may seem like a cliché, it really is true.

One of our deepest longings as human beings, as social beings, is to be understood.

Patience can be in short supply at this time of year, when everyone is too busy.
