Today, as we decorate our homes for the season, we give thanks for the comfort and security they provide.

This week, as we celebrate the second Sunday of Advent, we hear of John the Baptist’s travels through the region of Jordan proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

It has been said that change is the only constant in life. After the past two years, oh boy, would I agree with that. And I’m sure many other people would too.

Scripture
Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way.”
—Matthew 15:32
Reflection

Today we are inspired by the roots of Jesse and discover how that theme can translate into our Advent traditions.

If there is anything I have learned as a parent, it is that the only thing you can be certain about is that your life with your kids will be filled with uncertainty. Given that fact, my husband, Mark, and I really shouldn’t have been surprised when our oldest daughter, Maddie, called us a few months ago and asked, “Can I move back home?”

On this second day of the Advent season, we focus on the comfort found in the light of Christ.
