Our acceptance of Jesus as bread of life is itself a gift that can only be bestowed and accepted through the goodness of the Spirit of the Lord.
The Lord gives us his flesh to eat and his blood to drink and that constitutes a guarantee of our sharing the life of Jesus and the Father forever. Nothing unites us with the Lord Jesus more deeply than our sharing in the bread of life.
Jesus the bread of life nourishes us with the bread of his teaching and with the food of the Eucharist–his body and blood. We are called to believe and to receive.
Jesus offers us the bread of life. If we accept his teaching and respond to him in faith we will be joined in life to him and to the Father forever.
We all want to see the Father. We know that our worth and our happiness consist in living in the love of the Father in the kingdom of heaven. We also know that our path to heaven lies in and through our sharing the life of Jesus.
Psalm 119 is the longest psalm in the Bible. In a series of synonyms the text announces God’s outreach to his people. It expresses commitment to the word of God delivered by the people in various situations.
