Daily Reading from the USCCB: John 10:1-10
Jesus likes to refer to his disciples as his flock and himself as their shepherd. Today Jesus speaks of several aspects of his relationship with his flock. He guards them and keeps them safe so that those who might harm them are kept away. He knows them and leads them to where they will find good pasture. Only Jesus can provide all this for the flock because only Jesus is the shepherd of the flock.
Jesus loves his flock and wants to bring them–bring us–to an abundance of life. Jesus leads us and loves us and guides us and protects us. We can’t be what we are meant to be or get to where we belong with any other guide but him.
