We owe love to our neighbor because God loves us and calls us to share his love with others. We have no right to refuse forgiveness to our neighbor because forgiving is part of loving.

Most of us are not called to give up our lives for our faith. Martyrdom is not for everybody. Yet all of us are called to struggle as part of our life of faith.

We too, have–and will have–suffering in our life and death. It’s part of our human existence and we have to receive it as such. If Jesus suffered and died, how can we expect our personal history to be any different?

We need to remember that our final happiness depends on our participation in the life of the glorious Christ. We have to be aware that God invites us to participate in Christ’s kingdom.

Like Peter we are all individually gifted, and also occasionally weak. We are all called to be sources of strength for Christ’s Church. The Church is built on each one of us differently, according to our capabilities.

If we are going to benefit from what Jesus and his apostles came to deliver we have to be receptive, and keep asking Jesus for what we need.

We are not at the mercy of the forces of evil. Jesus will keep us from sinking. At the same time we cannot deal with the evil around us as if we were in charge. The Lord is in charge, and the Lord will take care of us.
