The conviction that Jesus–true God and true man–is our savior is based on our faith in what has been revealed to us.

Our love for God is generated by God’s prior love for us. This love necessarily involves our love for neighbor.

This likeness to God that his love for us and ours for him confers on us gives us confidence in the day of judgment.

Our love for God is always a response to his prior initiative of love. God is love and God has loved us first. Our love for our neighbor is a reflection of God’s love for us.

Christ’s commandments are that we believe in the name of Jesus and love one another. The Spirit will then remain in us.

God’s determination to bring his people to salvation–that is to ultimate unending validation and worth– never lessens.

Today we celebrate the octave of Christmas, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, and New Year’s Day. Each aspect of today’s liturgy involves blessing from the Lord.
