Lent is a time of re-enforcement of our decision for God. It is a time to weed out what keeps us from him, to strengthen what we need to stay strong in him.

No one is exempt from the call to repentance simply because there is no one whose heart is already fully in tune with the Lord.

God loved his creation too much to wipe it out simply and universally. Whenever God punishes, there is a dimension of mercy. It is so still with us.

The story of humankind is about sinfulness that grows from generation to generation. And yet God continues to look after his creature.

Even in their fallen state men and women are the objects of God’s care. The garment of skins that God makes for them shows his continued concern.

Evil is one of the mysteries of creation. We don’t understand all the implications of original sin, but we know that it has affected us and that we are all somehow sinners.
