The bond of marriage is one of the most sacred bonds and contract any two people can make. The contract is God’s plan for marriage. A good preparation is needed for making that most serious contract.
We never walk alone as persons of faith. Jesus’ words remind us that what God asks of us, he promises the strength and fortitude to see it through.
It is Jesus’ promise that even though all must die on their earthly journey, it is only the beginning of eternal life with God. Death is not final, but only the passage way into unending life with God and our loved ones.
In the Gospel of Matthew (25:23), as Jesus approaches the city of Jerusalem for the last time, he talks to his disciples about their need to be “faithful and prudent servants.”
Now that we are in the midst of the Lenten season, parishes will be offering several opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
It’s worth noting that Jesus tells us that the “kingdom of God” is God’s gift to us. It’s not something we create or achieve ourselves by our own efforts and energy.
