Violence and racism against people with Asian descent is on the rise in our country. Volunteering for charities or ministries where people of various backgrounds are served is a great way to break down the walls of bias.

It’s a tad ironic how easy it is to be grateful for the positive, joyful moments in life, and yet our faith calls us to be thankful for everything—even the most difficult situations. Yes, even in the death of a loved one, we “celebrate” a funeral Mass.

Everyone loves the idea of vacation, but when we actually take one, it seems to be over in the blink of an eye. It’s hard at first to clear the distractions away from our minds, but over time the benefits begin to bubble up.

We’re taxed, exhausted, and perhaps a little numb a year and a half past when the COVID-19 pandemic set in. Before the pandemic, the efforts of health-care workers went largely unnoticed.

Routine can have a deadening effect on our minds and souls. Take a break from work or house chores today. Make a mental note of how it changes your day.
