Reflect
People often describe some majestic natural sight as proof of the existence of God: the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, a giant sequoia tree, a total eclipse, a simple sunset. All seem touched by something transcendent. But scientists can explain the alignment of planets, the power of hydraulics, the immensity of a tree, the stratification of a canyon. What if the real proof isn’t in what we saw, but in how we feel. What if that spark of wonder flaring up inside of us is actually the echo of God’s voice saying: It is good; it is very good.
Pray
Lord,
Open my eyes to the wonder of creation,
to the goodness of all that you have made.
Fill my heart with love for your work,
from the most majestic mountain to
the humming of the humblest bee.
Let me look at all your handiwork
with fresh eyes, and know it is always you I see.
Act
Set aside a few minutes today to look at the wonder of creation: a sunrise, the night sky, a bird in flight, or a cloud drifting by. Even just an ant crawling across the concrete. Give yourself a few minutes to truly see what the Lord has made. Let yourself be filled with the wonder that still fills our Lord with love.
