Sharing the Word for November 27, 2020

Friday of the Thirty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time

November 27, 2020
Daily reading from the USCCB: Luke 21:29-33

As the end times approach there will be persecution for Jesus’ followers. The Gentiles will besiege Jerusalem. Destruction will be everywhere. And this will be merely a prelude to the ultimate, final upheaval of all creation, when Jesus will come in his glory to judge the living and the dead.

Today Jesus assures his listeners that this will really and truly come to pass. “Even if the sky and the earth were to pass away my words–my prophetic proclamation about the future–will never pass away.”

What Jesus has to say about the end times is for our benefit. There’s a direction in creation. To the extent that we are in accord with Jesus, we are in harmony with all that lies ahead.
