Sharing the Word for April 28, 2021

Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Easter

April 28, 2021
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Acts 12:24-13:5a

Paul and Barnabas had been involved in some famine relief missions to Jerusalem and they were now headquartered once more in Antioch. Now the Spirit intervenes and tells the community to send the pair off to Cyprus to preach about Jesus, starting in the Jewish synagogues. They have thus been “officially” called by God to be apostles.

God calls each one of us at various times in various ways to various tasks. There’s no telling ahead of time how any of it is going to play out. But we know that God chooses to employ our capabilities for his purposes, even as he sent Barnabas and Paul to do his work in Cyprus. It’s up to us to respond to the mission God gives us.
