Daily Reading from the USCCB: Acts 13:13-25

Paul and Barnabas are in Antioch in Pisidia and are invited to speak in the synagogue. Paul accepts the invitation and presents his first major address. It’s about God’s relationship with the Israelites: their liberation from Egypt, their capture of the Promised Land, their experience with judges and kings. Finally God sends them a Savior, Jesus.

Paul’s preaching generally follows a pattern: speaking first to the Jews, reminding them of God’s relationship with them, proclaiming Jesus as the Savior. If the Jews did not accept Paul’s message, he would go to the Gentiles. There was order in Paul’s evangelizing.

The Church continues to present the good news of salvation today in a thoughtful and orderly way. It’s up to us to accept it.
