Sharing the Word

Sometimes God makes demands on us that we find difficult. Yet God knows best, and we do best being obedient to him.

God takes care of us in all kinds of ways. We don’t have to know the details of God’s governance in our lives, but it’s right to have confidence in God’s care and to be grateful for it.

Today’s First Reading from Baruch is a prayer of corporate repentance meant to be recited by the exiles in sorrow for corporate sinfulness--past and present.

We who are followers of Jesus are called to clear the way for him, to prepare the world around us for his coming. We have to witness that the Lord is important.

Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael have had special missions in carrying out the will of God among his human creatures. The liturgical celebration of these archangels is intended to remind us that God is still concerned with us today.

God’s love for we humans is still universal today--still catholic. All are invited to respond to it, all invited to be blessed by it.
