Speech is a dangerous gift. We have to know how to control it. The way in which we use our speech is a determinant factor in our whole moral quality.

We experience a great love for the world. What we love is what moves our heart, and what moves our heart is what moves our lives.

We often find ourselves reflecting on the fear of the disciples in the upper room, but that is not the only part of the Pentecost story.

Blessed John of Fiesole, a Dominican Friar, is also known as Fra Angelico. Famous for his devotional artwork John used his talents to praise God through paint. All talents can be used to praise God.

Faith is more than an intellectual assent to certain truths. Faith involves action. It involves loving care for our neighbor, looking after those in need. Without such action faith is worthless.

We see through a glass dimly. An important part of spiritual practice, then, is “cleaning the lens”.

Rather than just talk about the problems of the day, the Seven Founders of the Servite Order did something about it─they consciously left all and formed a new religious congregation to address the issues. They put their money where their mouths were.

In the Christian community there must be no discrimination based on position or wealth. Authentic worth consists in God’s election and God’s gifts.

God wants useable instruments who will carry the mystery, the weight of glory and the burden of sin simultaneously.

Along with our losses, we are invited to find holiness and health amid the broken circumstances of our lives.
